On 24 May 2013, while Danilo Di Luca was riding in the Giro, the UCI announced that he had had an adverse finding in an out-of-competition doping test at his home on 29 April.
As a result, he was dropped by the Italian Cycling federations long list for the 2014 UCI Road World Championships.
The team is set to terminate Rabottini's contract and begin legal proceedings against him upon final confirmation of his positive test.
