[7] December 30, 2014 Akademgorodok was included in The Register of Objects of Cultural Heritage (monuments of history and culture) of the Peoples of the Russian Federation[8][9] The village has been known since the beginning of the 18th century.

In 1989, the "Ashram Shambala" sect was created in the district.
