Member State of the Arab League The Speaker of the People's Assembly of Syria, (Arabic: رئيس مجلس الشعب السوري, romanized: Raʼīs Majlis ash-Shaʻb as-Sūrī), is the chair of Syria's legislature.

The People's Assembly is elected every fourth calendar year.

[5] The guards of the People's Assembly were under the authority of the Speaker.

[2] 60 days before the term of the President expired, the Speaker can call for new elections.

[6] If only one candidate was acceptable, the Speaker was supposed to postpone the elections.
