Unincorporated communities in the township include Friendship Heights, White House, McKinley Hill, Sprucetown, Nilan, and Gans.
"[3] Spring Hill Township was formed in 1771 when the area was part of Bedford County.
The borough of Point Marion, a separate municipality, is located along the western edge of the township at the confluence of the Monongahela and the Cheat River.
Georges Creek, a tributary of the Monongahela, forms the northern boundary of the township.
[6] Chestnut Ridge crosses the southeast corner of the township, with a high point of 2,545 feet (776 m) above sea level.
U.S. Route 119 crosses the township, leading northeast to Uniontown, the county seat, and southwest to Morgantown, West Virginia.
The Mon–Fayette Expressway crosses the eastern part of the township, also connecting Uniontown and Morgantown.
