St Francis Xavier Church, Enkhuizen

The church was built in 1905 and is dedicated to St Francis Xavier one of the founders of the Jesuits.

The architect was Nicolaas Molenaar Sr. who designed the church in a Gothic Revival style.

From 1929 to 1930, the church was enlarged and the tower was designed by his son Nicolaas Molenaar Jr.

The church has a Gothic Revival Marian altar with a representation of the sacrifice of Abraham.

The font has the shape of a globe, together with the figures of Adam and Eve about to be expelled from the Garden of Eden.
