It is the church for the Stathelle parish which is part of the Bamble prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark.
The white and gray, brick church was built in a rectangular design in 1964 using plans drawn up by the architect Bjørn Ljungberg.
[1][2][3] In the 1960s, work began towards building an annex chapel in Stathelle.
It is a brick building that is partly clad with wood.
The nave and chancel are in the same room, giving it a rectangular design.
