A few men from Steigviliai and neighboring villages organized illegal book smuggling during the Lithuanian press ban.

The villages performed a three-act drama Iš tamsos į šviesą (From Darkness to Light) by Adomas Sketeris, a writer and doctor from Žeimelis.
