It lies at an elevation of 5,500 feet (1,700 m) in northeastern Utah, south of the Uinta Mountains.
Birds include golden eagles, hawks, bluebirds, vultures, owls, and osprey.
Year-round park facilities include a sand beach, boat launching ramp, restrooms, 31 RV campsites, two group-use pavilions, and sewage disposal, and fish cleaning stations.

The reservoir is fed by Ashley Creek and is part of the CUP-Vernal Unit project.
