Steinwiesen

Steinwiesen is a market town and municipality located in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach,[3] in Bavaria, Germany.

[4] Steinwiesen is thought to have been founded in 1000 AD, and was first mentioned under the name 'Steinnigenwiesen' in Urbar A of the Bamberg Collegiate Diocese in 1323 as part of a list of possessions and interests.

The oldest document in the possession of the community officially dates back to 1419, a fief letter from Bishop Albrecht von Wetheim for Cuntz Weydhawser concerning the tithe to Steinwiesen.

Steinwiesen was granted market privileges in April 1743 through Friedrich Karl von Schönborn-Buchheim, bishop to Bamberg and Würzburg.

[8][9] With the directive of April 1937, the governor of Bavaria, knight Franz of Epp lent the community of Steinwiesen the right to lead an own crest.
