Steuben (/ˈstjuːbən/ STEW-bən or /stjuːˈbɛn/ stew-BEN)[3] is a town in Oneida County, New York, United States.
The Town of Steuben is approximately 18 miles (29 kilometers) northwest of Utica.
The town is part of the land grant made to Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben after the American Revolution.
His remains are buried in a state historic site east of Steuben village.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 42.7 square miles (111 km2), all land.
