Suede were formed in 1989 by singer Brett Anderson, bassist Mat Osman and guitarist Justine Frischmann.
[1] It would not be until the release of their third single, "Animal Nitrate", that Suede would break into the top ten, with the song peaking at number seven following their performance of it at the 1993 BRIT Awards.
[1][2] Suede became associated with the Britpop movement of the period and achieved commercial success throughout the United Kingdom, with three of the group's five studio albums charting at number one.
[1] Their popularity throughout the rest of the world varied throughout the group's lifetime, but had several charting hits in Denmark,[3] Finland,[4] Norway[5] and Sweden.
Following a commercial resurgence with Coming Up and 1999s Head Music, Codling left in 2001 due to complications with chronic fatigue syndrome and was replaced by former Strangelove keyboardist Alex Lee.
