The hamlet of Suffield, a census-designated place, occupies the central part of the township.
Formed from the Connecticut Western Reserve, Suffield Township covers an area of 24 sq mi (62 km2).
[5] A post office called Suffield was established in 1836, and remained in operation until 1966.
In the southwestern part of the township was a settlement called Mishler, which had a post office from 1882 until 1917.
[6] The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
