It is located in the village of Sundvord, serving the far southern part of the municipality.

It is one of the churches for the Fusa parish which is part of the Fana prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin.

[1][2] During the 1920s, planning for a new annex chapel in Sundvor began.

In 1980, the building was enlarged to the west to add bathroom space and storage.

In 2000, the chapel was upgraded in status to a "parish church".
