Susan Douglas Rubeš

Susan Douglas Rubeš CM (13 March 1925 – 23 January 2013) was an Austrian-born Canadian actress and producer.

Rubeš was born Zuzka Zenta Bursteinová in Vienna, Austria, the only child of Charlotte and Alfred Burstein.

Her family took her to the theater or opera in Brno, and, on occasion, would visit Zuzka's maternal grandmother in Vienna, the manager of the Burgtheater.

[2] As Charlotte was not happy in her marriage, she arranged a divorce in absentia in Las Vegas and married Edward Weinberger, an agriculturalist.

[4] Following the film, she was offered a standard seven-year contract by Albert Lewin of MGM, but turned it down to live in New York.

[4] In 1953, she co-starred with James Dean in the half-hour Campbell Summer Soundstage television special: "Something For an Empty Briefcase".

[4] She founded the Young People's Theatre in Toronto in 1965, with the goal of introducing children to the live theater experience.
