Sveti Jurij (pronounced [ˈsʋeːti ˈjuːɾii̯]; Hungarian: Vízlendva,[2] German: Sankt Georgen,[3] Prekmurje Slovene: Sveti Güri[4] or Sveti Jürij[5]) is a village in the Municipality of Rogašovci in the Prekmurje region of northeastern Slovenia.
The name was changed on the basis of the 1948 Law on Names of Settlements and Designations of Squares, Streets, and Buildings as part of efforts by Slovenia's postwar communist government to remove religious elements from toponyms.
[7][8][9] The parish church in the village, from which the settlement gets its name, is dedicated to Saint George.
Elements of the original Gothic building from the late 14th century are preserved in the sanctuary.
It belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Murska Sobota.
