Sveti Ožbolt (pronounced [ˈsʋeːti ˈoʒːbɔlt]; German: Sankt Oswald[2]) is a settlement in the Municipality of Škofja Loka in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia.
The name was changed on the basis of the 1948 Law on Names of Settlements and Designations of Squares, Streets, and Buildings as part of efforts by Slovenia's postwar communist government to remove religious elements from toponyms.
[2] The local church, built on a hill above the settlement, is dedicated to Saint Oswald and is Late Gothic with the date 1527 in its vaulted sanctuary.
Frescos on the arch leading to the sanctuary were painted by Jernej of Loka in 1534.
