The city of Pillager is located entirely within Sylvan Township geographically but is a separate entity.

The township contains four cemeteries which include Gull River, Pillager, Sylvan and Wildwood.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,965 people, 717 households, and 569 families residing in the township.

There were 1,083 housing units at an average density of 35.2 per square mile (13.6/km2).

16.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
