Szkocja, Podlaskie Voivodeship

Szkocja [ˈʂkɔt͡sja] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Raczki, within Suwałki County, Podlaskie Voivodeship, in north-eastern Poland.

[1] It lies approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) south-east of Raczki, 16 km (10 mi) south-west of Suwałki, and 98 km (61 mi) north of the regional capital Białystok.

The village was founded in 1823 by Count Ludwik Michał Pac,[2] and named after its Scottish settlers, as the name means "Scotland" in Polish.

[3] In the 1921 Polish census, the entire population declared Polish nationality.
