Tahawwur Hussain Rana

Tahawwur Hussain Rana (Urdu: تہوّر حسین رانا) (born 12 January 1961)[1] is a Pakistani-Canadian citizen, member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, immigration consultant, and former military doctor who served in the Pakistan Army.

[16] Rana and Headley were both arrested at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago on 18 October 2009 for multiple terrorist related charges, stemming from the duo's involvement in the 2008 Mumbai attacks in India and in Copenhagen, Denmark against Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten.

During the interrogation period, federal prosecutors discovered that Rana had travelled to Mumbai and had stayed in Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, one of the locations that was attacked by Lashkar-e-Taiba.

[17] Rana maintains that he visited the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower with his wife to interview people wishing to emigrate to Canada or the U.S, as part of his immigration consultancy business.

[6] In May 2023, the Supreme Court of the United States approved Rana's extradition to India, and was confirmed by President Donald Trump on February 13, 2025.
