Tara Anne Durant (born October 26, 1972)[1] is an American politician who is a member of the Virginia Senate from the 27th district, serving since January 2024.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and political science from Coe College and attended the University of Baltimore School of Law.
[3] She was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in November 2021, defeating incumbent Democrat Joshua G.
[5] Durant prompted her entry into politics by claiming she and her daughter were attacked by an "angry mob"[6] of Black Lives Matter protesters.
Durant's attempt to press charges against two teenagers, one of which that was not at the protest, for car assault failed, raising questions about the accuracy of her narrative.
