General Tawfik Mohammed Hussein al-Tirawi (Arabic: توفيق الطيراوي) is a Fatah official who led the investigation into the death of former President Yasser Arafat.
His thesis was 'The Reality of Crises and Proposed Alternatives to Manage it From the Standpoint of Security and Civil Institutions' Leaders in Palestine'.
President Mahmoud Abbas appointed Tirawi his security adviser as well as head of the Palestinian General Intelligence on 28 August 2007.
He served as intelligence head until 21 November 2008 and security adviser until he was elected to the Central Committee of Fatah on 8 December 2009.
[4] He was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University in Jericho until 2022, when he was ousted by Mahmoud Abbas.
