The 2020 census found 1,516 people in the township.

Located in the center of the county, it borders the following townships: No municipalities are located in Taylor Township, although the unincorporated community (hamlet) of Broadway lies in the township's western midsection.

Taylor was the last township to be organized in Union County, on December 5, 1849.
