Edward Sagar (7 February 1910 – 16 October 1986) was an English footballer who played for Everton and England.
[2][3][4] He was a goalkeeper who joined Everton as an apprentice in 1929 after playing for Thorne Colliery in Yorkshire and made his debut in 1930.
[citation needed] He made 499 appearances for Everton; this goalkeeping record for the club was only beaten by Neville Southall in 1994.
[2] He retired from playing in 1952 and ran a pub in Aintree.
[5] Sagar played four times for England, as well as once for Northern Ireland Regional League during the war.
