Tekeli is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Bozyazı, Mersin Province, Turkey.
[3][4] Tekeli is situated on a small coastal plain surrounded by the Toros Mountains.
It lies on the Datça Mersin highway which runs parallel to the Mediterranean coast.
The territory around Tekeli was ruled in turn by Hittites, Lydians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and Armenians.
The Teke Turkmens migrated from Turkestan to South West Anatolia (Antalya region) in the 13th century.
