Temelín

Temelín (German: Groß Temelin) is a municipality and village in České Budějovice District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic.

Temelín consists of 11 municipal parts (in brackets population according to the 2021 census):[2] The name is derived from the personal name Temela.

[3] In the 1980s, the villages of Březí u Týna nad Vltavou, Knín, Křtěnov and Temelínec were demolished for the construction of the power plant.

[7] Vysoký Hrádek Castle is located next to the nuclear power station, in the area of Březí u Týna nad Vltavou.

It is a Renaissance castle that houses the information centre of the nuclear power station.
