Tempoal (municipality)

Tempoal is a municipality in the Mexican state of Veracruz.

It is located in the state's Huasteca Alta region.

The municipal seat is Tempoal de Sánchez.

[1] Of the municipality's inhabitants, 3252 (9.33%) spoke an indigenous language, primarily Wastek (Huasteco); the municipality's name comes from the Wastek tam-puhal, meaning "place of toads".

[2] The municipality of Tempoal covers a total surface area of 1,487.15 km².
