The Tennessee shiner (Notropis leuciodus) is a species of fish in the family Cyprinidae, the carps and minnows.
A lateral band and a paler stripe run from the gills to the tail fin.
[4] This freshwater fish lives in pools, creeks, and small to medium rivers.
Males in breeding colors aggregate in swarms in shallow pools and are briefly visited by females, which spawn and then depart.
It may also spawn over the nests of other species, such as the river chub (Nocomis micropogon) and largescale stoneroller (Campostoma oligolepis).
