Terra Grande-Pracuúba Extractive Reserve

The Terra Grande-Pracuúba Extractive Reserve is divided between the municipalities of São Sebastião da Boa Vista (35.42%) and Curralinho (64.58%), both in the state of Pará.

[2] It has with the objective of protecting the livelihoods and culture of the people and ensure sustainable use of renewable natural resources traditionally used by the extractive population.

[4] On 30 September 2008 the Instituto Nacional de Colonização e Reforma Agrária (National Institute for Colonization and Agrarian Reform) recognised the reserve as meeting the needs of 800 families of small farmers.

[3] The communities on the Canaticú and Pracuúba rivers have an açaí crop that ripens in the winter, between seasons in other areas, which therefore commands a high price.

Communities in the Guajará, Mutuacá, Mucutá and Piriá rivers and their tributaries do not usually have açaí and other forest products, but depend on timber as their main source of income.
