Thomas H. Palmer House

It is notable as the home of Thomas Palmer, an influential figure in the development of Pittsford and state-level educational standards in the mid-19th century.

[1] The Palmer House is located south of Pittsford's village center, a short way southeast of the junction of US 7 and Vermont Route 3, on the northeast side of the road.

[2] The house was built in 1832 for Thomas Haig Palmer, a Scottish immigrant and educator who moved to the area from Philadelphia, and his wife, Joanna Fenton from Georgia, Vermont.

His improvements drew statewide notice, and he was a leading force in drafting updates to the state's education standards in the 1840s.

The farm boasts over 1000 beautiful, fragrant lavender plants that are harvested each summer, there is a pond and a stream running along the side of the 17 acres.
