The song was produced by Butta and co-produced by Zone 4 label head Polow da Don, who co-wrote and guest appears on the song.
"Throw Some D's" peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
It has yielded the furthest commercial success for both Rich Boy and Polow da Don, becoming both artists' only entry on the chart as performers.
