[3] The district (kaupunginosa, an area used for development and planning) borders Tikkakoski in the north, Kuukanpää in the east, Puuppola in the south and Kuikka in the west.
The district does not form a statistical sub-district (pienalue) and is instead divided between Liinalampi, Tikkakosken keskusta and Luonetjärvi.
[2] The original name of the village may have been Mannila after the Savonian surname Manninen, attested from the area at least since 1585.
[5] Tikka-Mannila was initially a part of the chapel community of Laukaa, which became an independent parish in 1628.
[9] In 1967, there were plans to create a municipality called Tikkakoski, which would also have included Tikka-Mannila, along with Uurainen as well as the village of Vehniä in Laukaa.
