Timmins Fire Department

The Timmins Fire Department provides fire protection, technical rescue services, hazardous materials response and first responder emergency medical assistance to the city of Timmins, Ontario.

The jurisdiction is divided into seven wards of volunteer firefighters.

[1] The department was established in 1911, after a devastating fire which destroyed the community of South Porcupine, over 2,200 square kilometres (850 sq mi) of land, 73 people and $3 million in property.

Locals gathered inside of a box car owned by the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway.

The Town of Timmins was incorporated the next year.
