[2][3] Soon after, he moved to Los Angeles and began acting career appearing in the small independent films and guest-starring roles in television series such as Girlfriends, Eve, CSI: Miami, Heroes, Castle and Single Ladies.

In 2016, Durrett was cast in the Oprah Winfrey Network drama series Queen Sugar created and executive produced by Ava DuVernay.
