On July 24, 2015, it was announced that Leiweke would resign from his projects in Tampa Bay to join the NFL as their new chief operating officer.
Tod is the younger brother of Tim Leiweke,[8] president and CEO of Oak View Group.
He and his wife Tara became part-owners of the Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer in 2020.
