Thomas W. Laputka (born December 30, 1947) is an American former gridiron football player who played for the Ottawa Rough Riders and Edmonton Eskimos.
[1] He played college football at Southern Illinois University.
He was able to win in the general election defeating the incumbent mayor Harley Strickland.
[2] He served as the mayor of Orange City, Florida from November 2011 – 2016 after resigning from office [3][4][5] to run for Volusia County Chairman; against three other opponents in the race (incumbent chairman Jason Davis, Greg Gimbert of Daytona Beacon, and Ormond Beach mayor Ed Kelley).
[6] Later in the race, he did not win enough votes to make into the general election like Kelly and Davis did that year.
