Toto is located at 22°08′44″N 84°30′13″E / 22.145464°N 84.503667°E / 22.145464; 84.503667 The map alongside presents a rugged area, consisting partly of flat-topped hills called pat and partly of an undulating plateau, in the south-western portion of Chota Nagpur Plateau.

Three major rivers – the Sankh, South Koel and North Karo - along with their numerous tributaries, drain the area.

According to the District Census Handbook 2011, Gumla, Toto covered an area of 2.9029 km2 (1.1208 sq mi).

Among the civic amenities, it had five km (3.1 mi) of roads with both closed and open drains, the protected water supply involved uncovered well, hand pump.
