Tricholoma virgatum

It was first described scientifically as Agaricus virgatus by Elias Fries in 1818,[3] and later transferred to the genus Tricholoma by Paul Kummer in 1871.

[4] It is found in the deciduous and coniferous forests of Europe, North America, and China.

The mushroom is inedible, speculated to be poisonous,[5] and has a bitter and peppery taste and musty odor.

[2] The cap is silvery and conical, with streaks of fibres.

[6] Recent studies done on this mushroom have shown that its extract, after being submerged in methanol, can be effective in the prevention of diseases.
