After being held in Pentonville and then the high-security Belmarsh prisons on remand for 10 months awaiting trial,[13] Shepherd was acquitted of all 13 firearms offences with which he was charged.

In December 2019, Forensic Architecture released a report contending with the police's version of events, and asked for the investigation to be reopened,[16] but this was ultimately rejected[17] by the IOPC.
