Troy D. Fitrell

Troy Damian Fitrell is an American diplomat who had served as the United States ambassador to Guinea.

Fitrell appointed Acting Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs on January 20, 2025 Fitrell earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Maryland and a Master of Science at the National War College.

Fitrell served as a Pearson Fellow on the staff of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and was a watch officer in the Department’s Nuclear Risk Reduction Center.

[2] On June 15, 2021, President Joe Biden nominated Fitrell to be the next United States Ambassador to Guinea.

[6] On December 18, 2021, the United States Senate confirmed his nomination by voice vote.
