Tryout (theatre)

A theatrical tryout is a preliminary staging of a play or musical at a venue outside major theatrical hubs, such as Broadway in New York City or the West End in London, to assess audience response and refine the production before its official premiere.

Similar to a workshop production, a tryout allows producers and creators to identify and address potential issues before presenting the work to audiences in New York or London.
