The prince-bishop of Münster Max Franz satisfied the wishes of some "Heuerleute", a kind of farmer, from the nearby village of Hesepe to settle down in the bog "Twist".

By carrying out modernisation at the schools it is guaranteed nowadays that the students get a warm meal and are supervised throughout the day.
