[5] In 1824 the tsar Alexander I visited the deposit Tashkutargan which was later named the «Tsarevo-Alexander gold-field» in his honour.
They say that following his accompanies’ advice he went down to the mine, got 22 poods of sand and «discovered» a nugget weighing more than three kilograms and took it as a souvenir.
Nikifor Sutkin, a serf, found the largest nugget of gold weighing 36 kg.
