Uchanie [uˈxaɲɛ] is a village in Hrubieszów County, Lublin Voivodeship, in eastern Poland.
Upon the German invasion of Poland in 1939, Uchanie had a population of 1,161 Jews.
The Jewish population was sent to nearby Hrubieszów, from where they were sent to the Sobibór extermination camp.
[2] According to the data of the ethnographic expedition of 1869-1870 under the leadership of Pavlo Chubynskyi, Greek Catholics who spoke Ukrainian lived in this village[3] Between the years of 1928-1932, the Polish government ordered the destruction of the local Orthodox church as part of a large-scale campaign to destroy Ukrainian churches in the Kholm region and Podlasie.
