Val-de-Cognac (French pronunciation: [val də kɔɲak], lit.
'Vale of Cognac') is a commune in the Charente department in southwestern France.
On 1 January 2024, Cherves-Richemont and Saint-Sulpice-de-Cognac merged to create the new commune of Val-de-Cognac.
[3] This merger was validated by the two municipal councils on 26 April 2023 and endorsed by a prefectural decree of 25 September.
[4] The new commune of Val-de-Cognac is located in the far west of the Charente department, in the small agricultural region of Cognaçais[5] and the micro-country of Borderies.
