Vernon E. Strickland

Vernon Edward Strickland (born November 26, 1938) was the third bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Western Kansas, serving from 1995 to 2002.

He studied at Carson Newman College from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1967.

In 1979, he was appointed Archdeacon of Eastern New Mexico while in 1981 he became rector of St James' Church in Dillon, Montana.

In 1983, he moved to Clovis, New Mexico, and served as rector of St James' Church.

He was then appointed archdeacon of Wyoming in 1989, a post he retained until his election as bishop.
