Veszprém County (former)

Veszprém was an administrative county (comitatus) of the Kingdom of Hungary.

Its territory, which was smaller than that of present Veszprém county, in western Hungary.

Veszprém county shared borders with the Hungarian counties Vas, Sopron, Győr, Komárom, Fejér, Tolna, Somogy and Zala.

Veszprém county arose as one of the first comitatuses of the Kingdom of Hungary, in the 11th century.

The region south-east of Lake Balaton (around Enying) went to Fejér county.
