As a key member of the State Security Council, he was responsible for the coordination of repressive measures against the democratic opposition and civil society, in particular in the crackdown of the demonstration on 19 December 2010."

Besides that, Lukashenko is on the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List of the United States Department of the Treasury.
