Villasimius (Italian: [villasiˈmiːus]; Sardinian: Crabonaxa [kɾaβɔˈnaʒa]), is a comune (municipality) in the Province of South Sardinia in the Italian region of Sardinia, located about 35 kilometres (22 mi) east of Cagliari.
During the giudicati (Sardinian kingdoms), Aragonese and Spanish reigns, the territory suffered numerous pirate raids and became increasingly depopulated.
Villasimius' economy was traditionally based on agriculture and shepherding and, from 1875 to the extraction of granite.
Its tourism industry began in the late 1960s and is now Villasimius' main economic activity.
The area's most important beaches [1] are Cala Burroni, Cala Caterina, Campus, Piscadeddus, Porto Giunco, Porto Sa Ruxi, Punta Molentis, Simius, Spiaggia del Riso, Timi Ama.
