Viorel Pană

[1] He has more than 3,000 flight hours on the C-130 Hercules and C-27J Spartan, and flew over 200 missions in operation theatres in Irak, Afghanistan, Bosnia and Kosovo.

He was assigned as Chief of Staff of the Air Force in 2017, having previously served as commander of the 90th Airlift Base.

After graduating from the Carol I National Defence University in 2007, he returned to the base, becoming commander of the C-130 Hercules squadron.

[3] He was named Air Force Chief of Staff on 11 October 2017, succeeding Major General Laurian Anastasof.

[4] On 30 November 2023, Gen. Pană went into reserve, being succeeded as Chief of Staff by Major general Leonard Baraboi.
