According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has an area of 11.9 square miles (30.9 km2) in total, all land.

The racial makeup of the town was 91.8% White, 2.2% Native American, 0.5% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, and 2.0% from two or more races.

Exceptions to this law include "the mentally ill, convicted felons, conscientious objectors and people who cannot afford to own a gun".
